If you are a good Band Labels will find you eventfully, spend the £500 on collecting a strong fan base, then if you get any offers from Labels, act like you're not that Interested, then you may get a better deal, don't go all star eyed because you will get a shit deal from them.

It's gonna cost you £500 to have one of your tracks on their industry only record. Don't get me wrong - nice people to talk to however they did neglect to mention this in their post. www.sacredheartband.com

There is a fee to pay for this service, contact me for more details

When you all see posts such as "the White Label" I would ask for more information about the services provided and what  the charges are involved.

The have not answered any posts as they do not have the time, it may be an idea to send an e-mail instead.

UPDATE:

Yet more Bands are still contacting me to say they have been taken by this "Label" they will promise you "AIRPLAY" I have tried to verifiy many of there so called "Radio stations" including some from the BBC, all told me they had never heard of "The White Label" and would never play their so called submissions....
Posted by UKB Office on 30-5-2004 11:17 AM
I have contacted Jessica about this and have removed the address from each of these posts and I have mention in future they should mention the charges involved. And as of 22nd July NO REPLY was received and yet interested bands do receive a contact from a sales person.

We have a Free opportunity for Bands to get onto a Demo that goes out to Labels watch out for it in the next newsletter.

Posted by Delayed Promise on 11-12-2004 8:10 PM
hmm...they tried to persuade me at least three times. I mean come on, does anyone know a band that actually gave £500 of their own money to these feckin egits. At the end of the day if a label 'loved' your music that much they would be constantly trying to get you into meetings to sign you so you can 'keep' making money for them. This definetly has the marking of 'get rich quick' scheme. Perhaps someone should find out they are even a registered company. Wouldn't be surprised if you had to pay them in unmarked bills of a varing quantity which you leave behind a bin in Manchester city centre Smile Ah well, ther's a sucker born every day right?

i recieved a contract from these which basically stated "sign this and we can nick your music" as dreams was the one in question,,, no ******* way! stay clear peeps

I know for a fact that one site I regularly used to post on had a thread about "The White" and it had the same comments as this one. The upshot was that "The White " threatened them with legal action and the site removed every thread on them and now has them on their list of "Industry Contacts"
Ergo I no longer visit the aforementioned site for being so weak as to bow to threats from these scammers and for publicly validating companies that rip off artists in this way.
I'm so glad this site is different.

It's amazing.... I know a Band and I know others that have been caught be businesses that say they are "a Label" and then they contract them into paying the label a monthly sum for "Jack Shit" the label just gives them t he badge and takes their money...be careful people the world is full of shit people like this.

ALWAYS GET ADVICE BEFORE SIGNING ANYTHING.

The white knows what was said in these forums, I emailed them and told them about it, they never came back Smile

as for Legal action, let them try it, everything I have said is based on fact and they will not stop me printing these facts to warn all t he members.

yeah, i knew this band called neo-nemisis and the label took the 500 then told them there deal was "cancelled"

Well if you want to tell the band to come onto this we will try to help them out and create some more awareness of these people.

Never pay to go onto an industry compilation as they will be binned..

and that info comes from the Labels themselves..

It's interesting that there is a discussion on these pages about 'Paying to Play'....surely this is the same thing??!!
What say you??
Posted by UKB Office on 27-12-2004 1:06 PM
Nope this is pay for nothing, anyone can say "give me £500" and I will add you to a CD and send it to Labels, you don't even get to play....
Posted by Thatched House on 09-1-2005 11:19 PM
All this is true, I know of a band that plays my venue regularly that agreed verbally to it over the phone, changed their minds after consulting myself and others. Then white said they were going to take legal action LOL. If they were serious and really believed in your music they would act like an agency, put it on the cd free and charge a small fee for their services if a label was interested. STAY WELL AWAY.
Posted by Encierro on 03-6-2005 4:14 PM
thanks for the advice was going to get details sent to me but decided against it now.

just spoke to the guy on the phone and i recon he'll be having a look for this thread!

Headbang

oh and this also lets people know that they are still doing this!

**EDIT**
he phoned me again and said it was not true and that they do do what they say they do
but for £500 i would like more evidence
Posted by Pallas on 03-6-2005 4:50 PM
Just avoid this type of offer. work hard, get a fanbase, revise your songs - there is no easy way to get signed unless u are extremeley luckily - it is hard work and thats the best part of it
Posted by Until Escape on 05-2-2007 9:49 PM
god, this is terrible, i cant believe this has happened to so many of you, i am a representative of until escape. the white got in touch with them through overplay when they had a profile there and asked them if they would like all the usual benefits they offer, mostly things about being published in a magazine i think, at the time the band were very young and agreed, they have now recieved thre letters, or i should say, bills for £500, which they are not going to pay obviously as this 'company' has done absolutely nothing. but it is quite scary being told you owe money and i know that some people would just pay up, it sickens me, i hope that the word gets out about them beofre any more young and naive musicians get stung.

sly bastards. dont do this people which im sure you already know.

Heres something to be aware of. theyre linked to BOOTLEG management based in manchester. All full of shit believe me.

Must think people are stupid, i actually laughed down the phone when i heard this ages ago. Well before this white label was launched.

I think there is another thread named "beware of the white" there has been many complaints about the white but there are a few using the same name so is this the same one as I know there is one on the south coast
Posted by The Redwood Thinkers on 09-2-2007 10:00 PM
Bit upsetting for these guys if they are not the scamming scummers. think they better revise their name if they are not! You could prob do a lot more yourselves with £500 anyway. HARD WORK.

Hi, Maarten from the Dutch band Plastic Halo here. See below my conversation on MySpace with this label, pretty self-explanatory. Stay away from them, is what I say..

Hiya, I noticed you on Elbows page and I have just been listening to your tracks and i'm very interested. I'm a music promoter for White Label and we release promo comp albums for the music industry in the UK & Ireland. If you are interested and you would like to hear more you can get in touch with me through here or sean@thewhite.co.uk. You can also give me a call on office-0161 8339222 or mobile-07891 413098. Or if you like just leave your number and I will give you a call.
Regards, Sean

-- This is were I called him, sounds like a friendly guy but only then mentioned the 500 pounds-fee, and he promised me to send details by mail.

Hiya, ok here it is for you to have a look through. I work for a company called "White Label" which is based in Manchester. We put together promo copy only albums which are distributed to the top 2000 music industry professionals in the UK Ireland. They are not sold in any stores but go out on 500 vinyl 1500 cds to djs, independent djs, radio djs (not only your Radio 1s XFMS of this world but also your more local university stations), music agencies, promoters venues also get copies (which helps you out with gigs tours) tv companies, advertising agencies, music press record labels.

Obviously because we don"t sell the albums, that's why we charge a fee. Now if you were to do this yourself in the UK, it could cost you anything between £5000 £8000. That's where we come in, we look after the whole pressing mastering of the cd vinyl (this is done at Revolution, one of the finest studios in the country, check them out in my friends list on myspace) aswell as the distribution.

To actually book onto the album you don"t have to pay the full £500 straight away, but we do ask for a £100 deposit as this then secures your place on the album (the rest you can pay off in instalments if you wish). You get copies of the album yourself (5 on vinyl 10 on cd). We always say to try keep your track to a maximum of 4 mins long as you want as much radio play as possible.

Once your track has been released, you start to get all your reaction sheets back to let you know how your track has been doing (whether that be record label interest, tour interest or even radio shows). There are 10 artists on each album (10 different tracks) your copyright is not affected at all as it's a promo only copy album.

We only have two slots left on the albums for the rest of the year now. One is on a December release and the other a Feb. You can also find more info at www. thewhite. co. uk

Does this sound like something you would be interested in?

We are at this moment in time in dispute with Ukbands. net for allowing such rubbish to be written about us. If you hang on a second I will mail you an open later from the owner of the company Allan Robinson to show you.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Internet Slander a letter from Allan Robinson

Body:
Dear Friend,

Some years ago I started the White to give unknown artistes and their music the same chance as major artistes getting their music played around the country for a fraction of the price.

Before starting the business I asked Trading Standards to visit and give any help or advice. After their visit I applied the information given in order to adhere correctly to the law and good business practice White was then copyrighted and Trademarked, and the business was launched. Since then I have produced 27 albums.

No one can dispute we provide a cost saving, labour saving service. A Promotional Album where clients share the costs. Each album is mastered by one of the best studios in the country, then it is manufactured by the best Pressing Plant in Europe then we package, label and stamp 1500 Cd and 500 Vinyl and send 2000 of our known Industry Contacts including Radio Stations, Radio DJs, Club DJs, Independent DJs, Student Radio Stations, Internet Stations, Film, TV, Music Agencies, Press etc even the British Armed Forces, these are all sent by Post Office Certificates of Posting and Special Delivery and Recorded Delivery. These receipts and database can be shown to any Solicitor in Manchester City Centre to prove we do what we say we do. Clients who appear on the White get 10 cds and 5 vinyl each.

Clint Boon (of Inspiral Carpets & XFM speaking on his radio show on XFM, Manchester on the 28/8/08 said " Oh Yeah I get the White album its great, full of Up & Coming Talent.......Nice One........Keep up the good work ! "

With regard to internet slander, there will always be people or businesses in competition with me and willing to trump up such slander, they are usually the ones who offer to manufacture thousands of cd/vinyl for you costing you thousands of pounds, yes you have the product but who to send to and would they accept it ? Plus you still have the postage and admin. That’s why UKBands .net rang me up asking for my database......so they could steal my business and be in direct competition. By the way not only would that be against The Data Protection Act, none of my contacts in the Industry would be very pleased either. UKBands. net have been informed they are breaking Copyright and Trademark laws by displaying my logo without permission. They also will not publish on their website the letters I have sent them asking them to desist in their illegal activities.

Furthermore we are Music Promoters not agents, managers, publishers etc. We are not "Star Makers" nor do we ever say we are. If we did that we would charge £50,000 minimum per artiste. We provide a cost saving, labour saving service. A Promotional Album where clients share the costs. We get your music to the people who matter within the Music Industry in the UK and Ireland.

Ok did you get the letter ok and would you like to take the Feb slot?

--------------------------------------------------------
I don't think we will, for the following reasons:

- Your name doesn't show up on Google with or without any of the (impossible long list of) artists you mentioned.
- The reactions about it on the internet: everybody seems to get the same message about the last open slot(s).
- There are lots of other initiatives like this that don't charge as much as 500 pounds, and nowhere on the internet is a band mentioned that actually got helped by White Label.
- You didn't talk about the fee in the first message, that's at least very suspicious.

So all in all it doesn't seem very secure to me, 500 pounds is a lot of money.

I would like to hear your reaction to this. Best, Maarten

--------------------------------------------------------------

What do you want me to do I have explained eveything to you! I think you are wasting my time to be honest. If you would rather speak over the phone then leave a number but I feel I have told you all I can do and do not wish to carry on emailing. Like I say if you want to talk properly then I will call. We are not "suspicious" nor are we "fake" or anything else other than what I have told you.

----------------------------------------------------------------
I'm at work so I can't call you right now, else I definitely would. I explained carefully what my doubts are before spending this large amount of money, and it's more than logically you calmly respond to that in a professional way.

------------------------------------------------------------------

You are not making any sense. Leave a number and I will call you when you have a break.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd rather not, preferring to get things straight over e-mail as English is not my native language and I have to get in touch with my bandmates in between to discuss the case. As I said, it's a lot of money and I would like to have all doubts removed before we take any steps. If the only response to my clearly defined question is that I don't make any sense and I'm wasting your time, then let's end our discussion here.

All the best, Maarten

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You really aren't making any sense I have told you everything! If I told you anything else it would be a lie. You have all the info I can give you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, then thanks for the effort, but you couldn't take my doubts away with just an open letter and not responding to the reasons we were hesitating. Sorry to let this one go, good luck!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't understand you WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO ANSWER?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, short and clear: I want you to secure me it's a legit offer, after my research about White Label. Once again:

- Your name doesn't show up on Google with or without any of the (impossible long list of) artists you mentioned.
- The reactions about it on the internet: everybody seems to get the same message about the last open slot(s).
- There are lots of other initiatives like this that don't charge as much as 500 pounds, and nowhere on the internet is a band mentioned that actually got helped by White Label.
- You didn't talk about the fee in the first message, that's at least very suspicious.

I would like you to give me some examples and proofs of bands you helped before we also spend the 500. And, as I said, I would like to know WHY these things written on a respectable forum are NOT TRUE, in your point of view. And please, don't just say it is rubbish, please tell me why, or prove them wrong:

"Yet more Bands are still contacting me to say they have been taken by this "Label" they will promise you "AIRPLAY" I have tried to verifiy many of there so called "Radio stations" including some from the BBC, all told me they had never heard of "The White Label" and would never play their so called submissions...."

My name would not show up with those artists because I haven't worked with them. Allan Robinson the OWNER of the company has worked with all of those artists and helped to get them where they are today..I thought that was pretty clear from the letter and website? Regarding the same message of course if we only have a couple of slots left then we will tell the artists that..what is wrong with that? All you have to do is read the messages below to realise that we are not the only White Label..understand?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did Google Allan Robinson, as his name was under the open letter. No results. And then again, that was just an answer to one of my points. Let's call it a quit then. Good luck!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I said earlier thanks for wasting my time!

Some facts:-

1) We have at no point been contacted by the white, I remember they have been contacted by us to answer and enter into discussion about the many many claims our members are making about them. NO REPLY.. see their profile: http://www.ukbands.net/profile.php?id=2889

they were banned because they advertised their service in this forum in 2004 and as always we like to verify who and what is posted to protect the people who are reading it (we did not supply any business services in 2004 so to make the excuse they were a thread falls flat.

2) It has been a long while (read the post dates) since bands have openly complained about a company called "the While" after 27 compilations, they have made quite a tidy living. (hope they have provided accurate tax returns to reflect t he cash made over the years on 27 compilation CD's

£500 per track 20 tracks on each CD £10,000

27 compilations = £270,000.00 (over 1/4 of a million quid folks) and NOT ONE Success story to date... do not get sucked in people... after all these years NOT 1 person I have ever spoken top and mentioned the white have ever seen one of these compilations (any bands that have paid £500 ever received one?)

we would like to have a copy for quality control.

Why would we want to display a logo for them?

These threads have been here some 4 years and not 1 single person, not even the white have defended themselves, why is this?

if they tried they would fail and they do it all on a 1 to 1 basis which avoids publicity.

NOW it seems they have opened up a BIG can of worms if this text is true, if it is not and we do not receive the proof then this info may have to be removed but rest assured they will receive calls tomorrow about this.

we will see...

Yesterday, i was conned out of a £100 deposit by this sean guy working for the white. i did a thorough google search to check everything was legit and unfortunately i did not find this page. I have filed disputes on paypal and messaged them and am currently receiving childish angry responses in the same way that Fermato did. I will also shortly be contacting the police. I believe it would be helpful if between the people on here we can gather up as much evidence as we can to provide the police with, so that they can perform a thorough investigation.

I am in the same boat people. I got contacted via myspace by somebody claiming "Music is our message". They expressed an interest in my band (by sending the same email they send everybody) and I responded.
I spoke to sean over the phone on a Friday and he said all he needed to get everything going was a £100 deposit asap as there was only one band slot left on the CD.
I didnt get paid till Monday and said I couldnt pay till then and he started acting short saying things like "is there no other way you can sort it" etc.
Upon standing my ground he agreed he could hold the position till then (I thaught this seemed strange how he changed his mind so quickly).
So I paid my deposit......and I was due to pay the remaining £400 today.....upon searching for their website on google, which by the way braught up nothing. I tried searching for music is our message.
It braught up these threads and im safe to say upon reading everything here I am not going to pay.
So thanks guys for saving me £400!

Does anybody know if theres any form of action that could be taken?
Or anyway of trying to get the £100 back!?

Thanks anyway.

They recently contacted us a few days ago via Myspace with of course the exact same letter as everybody else, two places left, yada yada yada.

I don't know anything about legal rights and all that malarky but i imagine if you claimed it back and just told them that they have done absolutely nothing for your band (which they probably haven't having read all the replies in this forum) then maybe you can get your money back. Or threaten them with saying you'll contact the police!

These guys have tried talking to us about 10 times on myspace and each time we told were to go!

There is no need for these money grabbing pirate basterds in the music industry at all!

Shocking stuff.

There ARE some helpful organisations /companies looking to assist bands and help out with a promotional service.
Next week we are launching 'THE MUSIC ELEVATOR', a complete 'umbrella' service for bands looking to release a single or album in digital format (and physical available) along with all the elements involved as well as actual promotion of the release to various media.

Check out www.themusicelevator.com We have been 'fine tuning' this service over a trial period lasting 2 years and are set to launch next week with a national advertising campaign in music press. You can read testimonials from happy clients who we worked with during the trial.
This is an honest and great value for money service, probably the best value of it's kind in the UK.

Cheers guys,

Ewan
